GPISD College Night: From the Cradle to Career Activity Stations

GPISD Counselors played an active role in supporting the District College Night held at South Grand Prairie High. Traditionally, College Nights focus on secondary students only. However, at GPISD, Counselors believe in guiding students "From the Cradle to Career" so they created interactive stations, at College Night, for elementary students to learn more about college and career options.

We are so proud of these Lee Bears!!

As Lee Counselors speak to the students about kindness and compassion, they have seen many students really making attempts to start a chain reaction. Particularly, two 5th grade students who went above and beyond! They decided amongst themselves to start a tip jar for the janitors since they do so much for our school  (in classroom guidance the Lee Counselors also incorporate jobs that show kindness). The students asked their teacher and she loved and supported the idea. They have been going around to other students and asking them to contribute. What  Lee Counselors love is that the students did it without the desire for recognition, but for the simple act of kindness. Lee Counselors are just amazed at how thoughtful the students are and the initiative they took to show kindness in this way!
