Middle School Counselors at Bowie

Our middle school counselors from YWLA and YMLA visited Bowie Elementary to prepare our future sixth graders. Mrs. Culclager and Mr. Jordan really love what they do answering questions from parents and Bowie Bobcats for a great next year in middle school.

Counselors In Action

Bowie Cooks

Our Bowie Elementary principals and counselor were lovin' what they do yesterday, cooking up something special after school in the lounge for staff to enjoy today. Mmmm, I can't wait!

 


Daniels Dads

On Tuesday the counselor Mrs. Mays hosted Donuts with Dad and the dads of David Daniels came out in great numbers. The fathers were addressed by Principal Morrow, Assistant Superintendent Calvin Harrison and Community Activist Mr. Davis. The fathers and students enjoyed spending quality time together.

 

 

Awesome Austin Hygiene Drive


The Leadership Through Kindness Club and the counselor Tonya Womack Campbell led their school in a hygiene drive. Donated items were delivered to Brighter Tomorrows Shelter to benefit those in need. The awesome Austin Elementary campus donated over 250 items to the cause. Way to go!

 

 

De Zavala STAAR Pep Rally


On Friday De Zavala had its 2nd STAAR pep rally for 3rd-5th grades. Our student ambassadors talked about strategies for success, and KC Club provided test-taking tips. We also had fantastic performances by our cheer squad and Cinco de Mayo performers while our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers helped to get our students excited for testing. Our principal Mrs. Smith did a great job giving them a pep talk to get them ready for testing this week. Our theme this year is “I Believe in My Selfie!"

Beautification Day at Moore

Thanks to Fielder Church, Olivia Crews, Tamara Collins, and Kandice Davis who helped last Sunday to get our garden in shape.

 


Reagan Cleanup

Saturday morning Reagan Knights had an amazing turnout to clean up the campus and Bardin Road as well. Teachers and students enjoyed the fruits of their labor.

SGP9 Beautification

The SGP9 outdoor education classes, led by Coach Tony Warren, teamed up with our Friends of Rachel Club and school counselors to beautify our campus this week for the GPISD Month of Service Project. Students and staff worked for two days to clean up the three front garden areas and planted gorgeous flowers for curb appeal. They will continue to add more luscious greenery and color to the additional garden areas throughout the year.

 

 

Pennies for Pasta at Travis

Counselor Bowler and Ms. Dios' second grade students are the winners. TWLA raised over 2,000 dollars. Great work!

 

 


GPISD Counselors ROCK!!!

 

The SGP counseling crew participated in the 5K run/walk at the Grand Prairie Main Street Festival last Saturday.

 

 

Dickinson Day of Service

Dickinson Elementary had their GPISD Day of Service on April 25. We picked up trash, painted the tops of our planting beds as well as some rocks for decoration. Everyone had a great time.

 

GPHS Community Service

GPHS Friends of Rachel Club and the counseling department completed their community service project Saturday, April 23, 2016, at GP. The teacher's lounge, known as the Gopher Hole, received a make-over. The purpose of the beautification project was intended to show appreciation to GPHS staff for all their dedication to the students in our community.

 

 

 

Florence Hill Principal for a Day

Florence Hill Elementary participated in Principal for a Day. The students had to complete an application and participate in an interview, after which three students were selected by a committee to be Principal for a Day. All three principals had the opportunity to lead the pride rally, do lunch/recess duty, and even pass out cupcakes to staff members who had perfect attendance for the month of March. Each principal also made a rule for the day which included extra recess for all students with teachers playing as well, no bullying, and give a hug to anyone who is upset. Each of the Principals for a Day did a great job.

 

 

Marshall Service Project

Marshall's STUCO, National Elementary Honor Society students and counselor Mrs. JimĂ©nez cared for their school and the city of Grand Prairie through the service project, Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful. Mrs. Johnson (NEHS Coordinator) and Mrs. Head and Hulburt (STUCO) were a huge part of this project.

 

Lee's Day of Service

Lee’s KC Club and Green Club collaborated to help keep Lee green and clean for GPISD’s April Day of Service. The kids had fun as they learned and participated in helping the planet and keeping it clean.

GFAA Counselors and the KC club partner with Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful in a schoolwide cleanup on Earth Day.

 

The counselors caught the YWLA Ballet Folklorico girls showing kindness to each other as they prepared for their dance.

 

GPHS staff surprised and showered our paraprofessionals with appreciation, food and gifts.

 

Rayburn Cleanup

Rayburn KC Club and Garden Club worked together to clean up our campus and garden. We collected about four bags of trash. We are proud of our campus and want to help keep it clean.

 


 

GPFAA TALK Club

Today, GPFAA’s Try A Little Kindness or T.A.L.K. Club went around campus cleaning up and passing out cards of encouragement to our campus. What a great display of kindness these kids exhibit for their fellow Phantoms.

 

Daniels Volunteers

Thank you to the 40 volunteers from Fielder Church along with students, parents and staff of David Daniels Elementary for their Sunday of Service. Their energy spent weeding, cleaning and planting will be appreciated by all who visit our new garden; the transformation was amazing.

 


 

YMLA Volunteers

Fielder Church brought volunteers, supplies and a willing spirit to YMLA to clean up our landscape area. We are all truly thankful.

 


Garcia Clean Up

The KC Club encouraged students and staff to help beautify our campus on Earth Day. Students gave up recess to pick up trash, work in the garden and make bird feeders. Awesome teamwork - Go, Toro’s!

 


 

Powell Pennies for Pasta

Powell Elementary is a very caring and giving community. We recently participated in the Pasta for Pennies program for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our school raised approximately $2,770.74 for this great cause. I am Palomino proud of our awesome school.

 


 

SGP Positive Warriors

SGP continues to grow positive Warriors. Ms. John chose these six students to receive a t-shirt for their enduring commitment to nurturing the positive environment of South. Thank you, Mrs. John, for honoring these wonderful students.

Day of Service at Fannin and Our Rachel's Challenge Student Activity

 


 

Moore 3rd graders planted flowers and made our school beautiful. Students used recycled tires to paint in their house colors.

 

Day of Service at NSEC

Thank you to the 40 volunteers from Fielder Church for their day of service at the GPISD Natural Science Education Center. Their energy spent painting, weeding, repairing and cleaning will be appreciated by all who visit.

 


Moore- Day of Service

Sallye Moore pre-K and kindergarten celebrated Earth Day by painting rocks donated by a local rock and gravel shop. We love the earth so much we wanted to show some love to our school garden. Check out these beautiful pieces of art.

BEES and CEES Celebrate Day of Service

Bonham Early Education School and Crockett Early Education School celebrated Earth Day by making bird feeders for our gardens, a token from our youngest learners to give back.

 



Hobbs Williams Day of Service

Some 5th graders and members of the KC club at Williams picked up trash around the school for Earth Day. They had a lot of fun keeping their school beautiful.

 

Day of Service at Seguin

Mr. Cardin’s 4th grade class represented on Earth Day at the garden. His class is proud to be part of the Tomatoshpere this year, growing tomato seeds that have possibly been in outer space. Students are researching the effects of seeds being kept in outer space and how they might grow differently.

 

SGP Day of Service

SGP participated in GPISD’s Day of Service by making mats for the homeless, picking up trash around campus and making pallet benches for our garden area. Thank you to our local Starbucks for teaming up with our staff and students to make this day a complete success. Thank you as well to our Green and Clean and Volunteer clubs. We look forward to our upcoming projects.
