SGP9 Got Talent Winner... Counselor Stacy Parker-Brown

The SGP9 Student Council, led by biology teacher Brittany Randolph, put together an awesome End-of-Year Extravaganza. SGP9 students were treated to an entertaining show featuring their own teachers' and administrators' hidden talents. The event’s big trophy went to SGP9 Counselor Stacy Parker-Brown, breaking out a spunky cheer and a hip hop dance for the win. SGP ECHS math teacher Theresa Ellington wowed the crowd with her drill team and ballet performances followed by Nicholas Purgation, SGP9 math teacher, serenading and tickling the ivories. Our principal Donnie Bartlett and dean Larry Jones created their own version of “…Bel-Air” with beat boxing and a rap filled with humor. Other performances included our Teacher of the Year Julian Olds, English teacher Sonya Barton and her dog, our Spanish Club with a Latin dance, and the SGP Southside Steppers showing off all of their hard work.

Moore Handprints on Hearts

Sallye Moore Elementary had a wonderful time celebrating our Handprints on Hearts mentors. Mentors and their mentees were treated to a lunch and gifts were presented to the mentors.

Counselors' Corner

Eisenhower KC Club

The counselor at Eisenhower Elementary loves the KC Club adult sponsors. All these wonderful people helped mentor thirty KC Club members each and every month as they worked on team-building, cultivating leadership skills and participating in several community service projects. Thank you. Thank you.

SGP9 Academic Awards Ceremony

SGP9 celebrated this year’s academic achievements of over 150 freshmen with each receiving a certificate and medal for their outstanding successes. Awards included Outstanding Academic Achievement in a subject area, A Honor Roll for the year, Perfect Attendance all year, Outstanding Students of Character, TRIBE membership (A/B Honor Roll and met attendance/discipline requirements), Principal and Chancellor’s Lists for a 4.0 GPA, and the Principal Award for Outstanding Boy and Girl. Our evening ended with our Teacher of the Year, Julian Olds, reminding us about the A’s of life. We are proud of our Warrior students and the passion that our teachers and staff exude.

SGP9 SPEARit Camp

SGP9 introduced over 700 incoming freshmen to SGP and what it's like to be a Warrior. Current students from 13 campus organizations showed off their love and pride for their school at ‪#‎SPEARit‬ Camp for the feeder middle schools. A special thank you to all the SGP sponsors, directors, teachers, counselors and administrators that made this event possible.

Ochoa Donuts with Dad

Ochoa STEM Academy hosted Donuts with Dad Friday morning and had an amazing turnout. Over 500 donuts were served to our dads and students. Thank you to our wonderful parents for coming out and showing such wonderful support.

SGP ECHS Chancellor's List

This is SGP ECHS's very first Chancellor's List. Just like the Dean's List in college, these high school freshmen have a perfect 4.0 average after two semesters at Mountain View College.

GPISD Counselors in Actions

Truman College and Career Fair

Truman Middle School’s counselors organized the campus’ annual college and career fair where students interviewed professionals from many vocational areas and gained valuable insight on various careers. Our guests and students really enjoyed themselves.

Junior Achievement at Eisenhower Elementary

Seventy-two GPHS students in Education Leadership visited with over 750 Eisenhower students, using hands-on activities to teach them about business and economics. It was a great learning experience. Thank you, Grand Prairie High School.

Middle School Counselors at Bowie

Our middle school counselors from YWLA and YMLA visited Bowie Elementary to prepare our future sixth graders. Mrs. Culclager and Mr. Jordan really love what they do answering questions from parents and Bowie Bobcats for a great next year in middle school.
