YWLA ended Suicide Prevention Week by wearing yellow and completing the "Tomorrow Needs You because YOU matter" bulletin board.

Counselor Shannon Regalzi shows Austin 4th grade students breathing techniques to self-regulate themselves by using the frontal lobe of the brain. This helps everyone to make responsible choices.

 


GPCI would like to give a shout-out to their very own Dr. Green for being named the Handprints on Hearts Mentor of the Year. She is an amazing teacher and person.


GPISD Counseling Services Rock


BFAA parents enjoyed the presentation delivered by 5th grade teachers and Mrs. Campbell, a counselor at YMLA. They informed parent about the expectations in 5th grade and the developmental process of transitioning from Elementary to Middle School. Our parents expressed their appreciation about getting their questions answered and are looking forward to partnering with Middle School to ensure student success.




Moseley's Handprints on Hearts kickoff was a success!  Moseley's counselor would like to thank faculty and staff for all they do for kids.

The counseling department at Marshall developed "Self-Regulation Stations" for students who arrive early at school.  Students regulate their energy level so they are ready to learn when the bell rings.

Travis World Language Academy Counselor in Action



Counselor Mrs.Lopez at Travis World Language Academy promotes Kindness and Compassion with her Kindness Crew as they sign a pledge to stand 4 Kindness.

Counselor Mrs. Lopez at Travis World Language Academy is sponsoring Career Cruising and a Math Club early in the morning starting at 7:30 a.m. for students that are eager to get an early start on learning.
 

Counselor Mrs. Lopez at Travis World Language Academy teaches Self-Regulation Skills to students in order to help them develop focusing skills while learning to regulate their emotions.

De Zavala counselors Mrs. Glover and Ms. McGriff not only work with students on problem-solving, but also with the entire De Zavala staff. As staff members walk by their offices, they are reminded of the different ways they can solve a problem.

The Jackson counselors have been making announcements all week to empower their students during Suicide Prevention Week. They want to ensure that each one of their students know they are valuable, worthwhile and loved.

The Counseling Team at DATA @ Adams MS promotes "Say Hello Program" and "Career Cruising Program" to parents during open house.
 

YMLA is putting a cap on suicide.  Counselors Randle and Campbell (RC COLA) are helping staff and students to remember if they see someone that needs help to check on them. The YMLA campus wore caps as a reminder to decrease suicidal ideations.   Counselors were also on site during "Meet the Teacher" night to provide parents information on suicide prevention as well. 
 

The Jackson counselors are in classrooms this week to present their Meet The Counselors/Suicide Prevention Week social emotional learning lesson. The focus is on their Start with Hello program that will help combat feelings of isolation and promote kindness on their campus.

Reagan students are teaming up against suicide during National Suicide Prevention Week

The counseling staff at Dubiski are helping to bring suicide prevention knowledge and awareness to our students by having various activities during lunches this week. 



YMLA counselors Randle and Campbell (RC COLA) are kicking off "Suicide Prevention Week" and the "Start with Hello" initiative.  The counselors provided  information to their young men on how to combat suicide, manage strong emotions, and assist others in crisis.  Randle and Campbell have also made available encouraging quotes, ways to cope, prevention resources, dress up theme days, and news to use for students and staff through email and the learning management system Canvas.
