Career Day & the Kindness Club



David Daniels students are engaged by the many careers presented at career day.


De Zavala Kindness Club Donates

The KC Club at De Zavala along with counselors Mrs. Glover and Ms. McGriff sponsored a drive during the month of January, "Warming the Hearts of Our Community." Students were encouraged to donate clothing items that would keep our community members warm. The items collected will go toward Beat the Streets outreach and will be distributed to those in need. 

Great Counselors Doing Great Things in GPISD



The students at Powell Elementary had a great time at their career day and heard a great variety of speakers.



Moseley Parents Recognized

The Moseley Elementary staff and students would like to recognize an amazing group of parents who have gone above and beyond to help our school. The parents in this picture donated building materials, supplies, and their labor over the summer to put a roof on our garden pergola so we can use it year round for outdoor learning. This was definitely a labor of love. The parents were honored at our monthly Thunder Rally on Friday.

Austin Career Day

Austin’s Career Day was a success, with professionals ranging from a realtor, police officer, social workers, professional counselor, and more, as well as students from Dubiski Career High School presenting information to students regarding their career pathways. Austin students were eager to engage and learn, and our guests had a great time as well.


Mayor Visits Powell
Thank you to Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen for visiting Powell this morning to recognize our Cotton Bowl Classic Art Contest winners during our pride rally. He also shared with all of our students the great importance of hard work and a good education.

Daniels Counselor Awarded

Mrs. Tai Mays from David Daniels Elementary Academy of Math and Science received the Bronze Ready Award at the Lone Star State School Conference for Discipline and Behavior. Wow.


Dana Jackson Presented
Dana Jackson Director of Counseling Services did an outstanding job at the School Counselor's Conference in Frisco. She presented pertinent information to participants in advocating for counseling programs all across Texas.

Elementary Career Days


Rayburn Career Day
Rayburn STEAM students were visited by a pilot, a chiropractor, an animator, and a Jiu Jitsu instructor. The students were very engaged.



Career Day at Eisenhower
Our fourth and fifth grade scholars had a great day last Friday, enjoying appearances from our guests representing Grand Prairie Police Department, Grand Prairie Fire Department, Grand Prairie Better Business Bureau, Grand Prairie Libraries, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Dubiski Graphic Design, Cosmetology and Business career paths. Also, Dr. Espino MD, Dr. Cooper DNV, attorney Madalyn Wells, Mrs. Esmeralda Rodriguez, Mrs. Marissa Rodriguez from Liberty Tax Marketing, Chef Mrs. Talamantes and Mr. Scott Haltom from National Guard.


Career Day at De Zavala

Ms. McGriff and Mrs. Glover, counselors at De Zavala exposed students to more than 20 careers during career day. Students were able to hear about and ask questions on potential future careers.


Lee Career Day

Several city and district employees arranged their schedule to spend time with Lee students at our career day. Their willingness to share their secret to success with our staff and students about their career was one of the main ingredients to making it a success.



Dickinson Career Day

Dickinson Elementary welcomed many community members to share with students what it takes to be successful doing what you love.


Garner Career Day
There's no better career day than the ones at GFAA. From civil service workers to costume makers, our students enjoyed the presentations of over 20 fantastic speakers. Garner would like to thank all of our community and parent volunteers for making Friday a huge success.

YMLA Thank You Letters

YMLA is committed to random acts of kindness and service through writing. During advisory, the young men wrote thank you letters to our cafeteria and custodial staff and presented them Friday.

Williams Warm Soles Drive

Wonderful Williams KC (Kindness and Compassion Club) Club has done it again. Students, staff, and parents donated socks for the Warm Soles Drive. Donations will be given to the Arlington Life Shelter. Sponsors for the KC Club include Zynab Saad, Sherrita Calvin-Robinson, Lauren Wirth and counselor Tonya Womack Campbell.

Naval Academy Visits GPFAA

Gavin Sanchez, a Midshipman 3rd Class Naval Academy sophomore, stopped by GPFAA to visit with students who may be interested in applying to any of the military service academies, and spoke of the experiences he's had so far while attending USNA.

SGP Scholarship Workshop
Thursday night SGPHS College and Career Center staff held a scholarship workshop and had 37 seniors turn out to fill out scholarships for college.
