Ochoa at WE Day
Ms. Jones, Ochoa school counselor and members of the KC club attended WE Day. WE Day is a unique youth empowering event that celebrates the power of youth change makers.

GPFAA Kicks Butts
Tobacco kills 1,300 Americans every single day. Each day more than 2,800 kids under the age of 18 try smoking for the first time. The counselors at GPFAA had students and staff pledge not to be a replacement to those that lose their lives to tobacco products.

National School Social Worker Week 2018
The Grand Prairie Counseling Department would like to acknowledge our three amazing school social workers during this National School Social Worker Week. Rebekah Swaim, Blanca McGee, and Mark Johnson have served the students, campuses, and community of Grand Prairie ISD in a way that is professional and caring. They tirelessly work to encourage students to be their best while promoting a school community that is conducive to learning. We are super excited to celebrate them this week and all year long. Please help us to encourage them when you see them on your campus. Happy National School Social Worker Week, ladies and gentleman!

Counselors at TWLA host a Test Anxiety Workshop in order to empower parents to better understand and assist their children.


Williams Parent Meeting

Counselor Tonya Womack Campbell and community liaison Rosanelda Foo hosted a parent workshop. Parents were equipped with tools to manage stress, healthy eating, and positive thinking. Second-grade students showed parents how to implement positive self-talk.  Parents finished the workshop in art therapy with original artwork.

Bullying Workshop at Travis

Counselors at TWLA hosted a Bullying Workshop during Open House with an enormously positive response from parents.

Ochoa Career Day
Ochoa's Professional Career Day was a success. Big thanks to all of the guest speakers, school counselor Ms. Jones for coordinating Career Day, community liaison Ms. Vasquez, GT specialist Ms. Turner, IMS aide Ms. Green, and all other staff members who helped out with Career Day.

Travis WLA ROCKS!

Travis KC Club

Counselors at TWLA collaborate with the art class, music and P.E. for a day of fun and kinesthetic learning as they create kindness and compassion designs by using abstract shapes and music to make learning come to life.

Travis at STEaMposium

Counselors and staff members from TWLA volunteered to support their students at the STEaMposium held at Grand Prairie High School this past Saturday.

The NED Show at Travis

Counselors at TWLA hosted a fabulous character education assembly The NED Show. Students learned to never give up, encourage others and do your best.

PACT at Bonham

Parents at Bonham had a great time painting piggy banks to start their savings for college. The PACT presentation Raising a Scholar was given by the school counselor Mrs. Hernandez.

 

Representation at Dickinson
Dickinson counselor Latavia Rivers and second-grade teacher Carl Bright proudly celebrate their heritage and culture for Black History Month.

Moseley Kindness Unicorns

Teachers at Moseley know the best way to teach students how to be kind is to show them how to be kind. Congratulations to these teachers who received kindness unicorns for their kind acts.

De Zavala Learns Love

Students at De Zavala show how proud they are for earning the Love character trait sticker. Counselors Ms. McGriff and Mrs. Glover conducted guidance lessons throughout the month of February and taught students all about love. Way to go, Lions!

Career Day at Daniels

School counselor of David Daniels Mrs. Mays organized an amazing Career Day. Students enjoyed speakers from many different career fields.

Jackson Visits Marshall
Jackson counselors, principal, fine arts department and clubs visited Marshall's 5th graders. We presented the many programs that make Jackson an outstanding school and program of choice. The students at Marshall were a great audience and enjoyed seeing what middle school has in store for them.

GPHS at Travis
8th grade students want to give thanks to the outstanding counselors from GPHS. Their time to answer questions, explain options, and complete the scheduling process individually was amazing. Ahhhhhhh GP!

Random Acts of Kindness at Travis
Middle school students at Travis World Language Academy recognized their outstanding cafeteria staff with cards and goodies as a Random Act of Kindness.

GPHS Teen Dating Violence Awareness
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Presentations on Healthy Relationships were presented by the GPHS Counseling Department to health courses (Health and Principles of Health Science) on February 27-28, 2018, in Health classes at GPHS.
