Great GPISD Counselors

Bonham staff and students wore red to promote Bully Prevention Month.

Dubiski Students Read to Moseley Students
Thank you to Dubiski students who volunteered to read to Moseley Elementary students this week as a way to show kindness and service. The students and staff enjoyed your visit and appreciated your help.

DubiskIService

In the spirit of service and building relationships, Dubiski offered a Day of Service on Wednesday, October 11, to our Pre-K and elementary friends. Dubiski's new program DubiskIService took freshman students to 10 different elementary school campuses to serve staff and students for several hours.
The elementary schools benefitted from our freshman volunteers in many ways, including:

  • Helped elementary students work on reading and writing skills in preparation for state assessment tests
  • Helped pre-k students review numbers and sight words
  • Prepared teaching materials for teachers
  • Bowled with first graders
  • Helped PTA groups set up for events
  • Painted a garden fence and helped in the gardens

Bullying Prevention at De Zavala
Mrs. Glover and Ms. McGriff, counselors at De Zavala Elementary, presented Bullying Prevention Through Kindness and Respect to a room full of parents. Through the presentation, parents learned about the different ways in which bullying is prevented not only at our school but throughout the district.

Williams Brainstorm
Wonderful Williams parents and school personnel brainstormed ways to support student academic success. Presenters included Jessica Henson - instructional coach, Tonya Womack Campbell - counselor, Rosanelda Foo - community liaison, and Ruth Amaro - social worker. Also, All Pro Dad leader Jose Castillo provided ideas for mentoring and goal setting. Information was shared on how to support students in math and science, community resources available to families, and providing a home environment conducive to learning. Go, Wolves.
